How will you stay connected? Breathing Space Day is an annual awareness-raising day which takes place on 1st February and encourages Scots to take some ‘time out’ to do something positive for their mental wellbeing. Deaf Connections Event

The period leading up to Christmas can be stressful with issues such as family tensions, relationship breakdowns, loneliness and debt arising. For some, it can also be a poignant or reflective time of year. Deaf Connections are hosting an event on Wednesday 4th December (2pm-4pm), which will provide advice on how to cope with stress and emotional issues in the lead up to Christmas. Choose Life, Scotland’s suicide prevention initiative, launched their ‘Read between the lines’ campaign for Suicide Prevention Week 2013 (September 8th-14th). The take home message of the campaign is: ‘If you can read between the lines, you can save lives’. The campaign encourages people to make a positive difference by being alert to signs of distress in family and friends and not being afraid to ask what is troubling them. Men's 10K 2013

  Last month over 2,700 men took part in the Men’s Health Forum Men’s 10K which took place at Bellahouston Park on Father’s Day. The annual event aims to engage men in Scotland in healthy physical activity. Spectators waved their Breathing Space flags for the race and the pre-event ‘Rascal Run’; a kilometre race for children which took place before the main race. Jayfest is being held in Innerleithen on 14th-16th June 2013 to celebrate the life of highly accomplished mountain biker Jaymie Mart.
