Find your Breathing Space...Skidaddle!

Skidaddle and Breathing Space have come together to emphasise the relationship between Physical and Mental Health

Exercise has been proven to help people affected by low mood, anxiety and depression but it can also help prevent people feeling low in the first place. With obesity related illnesses and mental ill-health remaining two major challenges in Scotland, Breathing Space and Skidaddle have joined together to promote positive mental health through physical fitness.

Breathing Space is a national mental health phone service, providing free and confidential support to anybody experiencing low mood, anxiety and depression.

Skidaddle is a not for profit enterprise providing outdoor sporting opportunities through a variety of events. Skidaddle uses these events to put fun, social opportunities and personal challenge into exercise.

The Breathing Space Callander 10k takes place on Saturday 10th October, with  5k and 1k events running alongside, and is therefore open to everybody no matter how old, how fit or how fast.  It is also one of the most spectacular 10k races in Britain, with the route encompassing the pretty town centre, riverside, surrounding hills and the old railway line. This fun event is a great day out for all ages.

Skidaddle’s Founder and CEO, Maz Wyllie said…”Throughout my career in health and fitness I have seen again and again the practical evidence of people’s confidence, self- esteem and overall mental health improving as a result of physical activity.  We are thrilled that Breathing Space has come on board to support the Callander 10k.  This is the start of a fantastic relationship which has the potential to create benefit across Scotland.

Tony McLaren Breathing Space National Coordinator, added……."This is a great event, suited to all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Mental health is everyone's business, so we're delighted to be involved and promoting this message. Being able to walk, jog or run along this scenic route, soaking up the atmosphere and reaping all the physical and mental health benefits, is an opportunity not to be missed."

Online bookings close 5pm October 7th. On the day entries will be subject to availability.
